HOLY BANANAS, WE’RE WRITING A BLOG

This coronavirus shenanigan really stuck a wrench in things, didn’t it?

For months Alex and I had been going back and forth on this absurd idea.

We should start a podcast.

It was an empty refrain for a while, an idea without substance or direction, barely an idea if we’re being totally honest.

Dude, we should definitely start a podcast.

It became more solid. A messy, kind of chaotic plan began to form. Our inner (and frankly outer) nerds started freaking out (in a good way).

Alright, let’s do it, let’s start a podcast.

It became an outline and a title, a small number of ideas jotted down on a shared document. We were finally getting somewhere.

Then there was COVID-19.

We couldn’t keep putting it off. If there was ever a time for a podcast that delves into the nuances of how climate and disaster affect our day-to-day lives, during a global pandemic is pretty high on the list.

The only problem was, one of us had to respond to said global pandemic.

The podcast is most definitely a two-person show.

So, much like this coronavirus hopefully does not, Globally Heated has evolved to be even more infectious.

As Globally Heated: The Talking Bit (podcast) gets ramped up, we wanted to jump into the COVID-19 frenzy with some written thoughts, discussion, and ideas in Globally Heated: The Written Bit.*

This blog will also be an environment for a different approach to dissecting the nuances of disaster, climate, society, policy, and anything else that pops into our eclectic brain space. We hope it’s catchy, thought-provoking, and not at all fever-inducing.

Please read, enjoy, contemplate, engage, and keep coming back (and listen to our podcast)!
